Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is a Square Enix game developed for the PSP. Like the other Final Fantasy games, this is an action role-playing game. It is a prequel to Final Fantasy VII and is the fourth installment in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.

This installment focuses on Zack Fair, and the events leading up to his demise. Along his way, he meets many of the Final Fantasy VII characters such as Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough. He develops strong bonds with them. The storyline starts with the war with the Wutai to events on Nibelheim right up to the time before the beginnings of Final Fantasy VII.

Crisis Core has action and menu-based play. The new battle system in this version is called the Digital Mind Wave. It revolves around a series of reels that revolve continuously in the corner of the screen as long as there are soldier points available to use. The reels revolve independently of each other and when three of the same character and value are lined up, power-ups are awarded to Zack.

Players have full control over Zack and can rotate camera angles. Enemies are everywhere in the field screen and battles will take place in real time. Following the completion of the game, like some of the other Final Fantasy games, player will be able to use the New Game Plus option. Plus the United States release of Crisis Core has a hard mode available which cause the enemies to gain doubled stats and a 10x HP gain.
