Okami for the Nintendo Wii and PS2 has a rating of 9 out of 10 at Gamespot.com. Okami was developed by Clover Studios and distributed by Capcom. Okami is a single player game released in 2006 for the Playstation 2. You can plainly see that there is a definite difference in the Wii and PS2 version. The Wii version is much crisper and has more vibrant colors. The graphics in the PS2 version are much more disappointing and lot less vibrant. Clover Studio got the idea of Okami from Japanese watercolor and woodcarving techniques. The word Okami means “Wolf” in Japanese. No sequel to this game has yet to be announced. In 2006, it made over 8 million dollars.
The storyline begins in Nippon (the Japanese word for "Japan"), flashing back 100 years. Shinto, who is a sun god, goes by the name of Amaterasu and takes the form of a white wolf. He has a paint brush for a tail and a resurrection symbol on his back. He helps the civilians by drawing with his tail, like drawing the sun, making wind, and blooming magical fruit to take away any curses. He goes around connecting stars and getting new powers, some of which include rejuvenation, sword mastery, rooting, bloom, fire guiding and leaf pad making. Okami is, from the beginning, an adventure game. It captivates you, keeping you so entranced that you can’t stop playing. Some of the bosses that you will fight are spiders, rock demon, dragon, and flying fish.
Okami is a great action/adventure game with a wonderful art direction that is sure to please nearly any fan of the genre.
