While summer days are designed for outdoor recreational games and activities, sometimes you might want a little indoor time of just sitting back and relaxing. Other times the rain ruins your outdoor plans and forces you to stay inside. When the latter or the former are the case, all you need to do is curl up with a nice video game.
The game “Patapon” may be just what you need for those lazy, indoor days. Patapon is about a tribe that lived in happiness and prosperity until an evil tribe (Zigoton) invaded and defeated the Patapon tribe.
Now it is up to the Patapon God to protect and defend the people on their journey to take back their land. This is where you, the player, will come in. You’ll be playing the role of the Patapon God and use sacred war drums to instruct the militia during combats.
You’ll be in charge of a Patapon tribe made up of an infantry, ranged troops, and cavalry. However, when you begin the game your army will not be as big and strong. You’ll actually start off with just a few spearmen (Yaripon) and work your way up to the rest. Along the way you will collect more and better warriors as well as more powerful weapons.
The way you’ll dictate the army’s next move is by beating a series of rhythm combos on four different talking drums which correspond to one of the four PSP control buttons. Different rhythmic combinations dictate different moves such as attacking, retreating, and/or defending. The trick is to keep the rhythm going by not missing any beats which increases combat abilities.
