A DS Game Worth Playing

The World Ends With You for the Nintendo DS is heralded for its innovative new spin on the traditional role playing game. This new spin on the RPG encompasses several different gaming genres ranging from adventure to fighting. The World Ends With You is well underway to becoming an genuine hit that not only excels but could become the first of a new generation of RPGs.

This unique game, with its surprising gameplay, utilizes the full range of the Nintendo DS, drawing in both the hardcore gamers and novices alike. The game, although revolutionary in most aspects, still has the basic expectations of a classic RPG. The main character Neku, is a moody fifteen year with a huge gap in his memory. You get to play through all the challenges that Neku faces.

At the beginning of the game young Neku wakes up in Tokyo and discovers that not only is he invisible but he has somehow managed to be able to read people’s minds using a badge he had mysteriously obtained. Shortly after being awake he receives a text message that leads him to find out that he have been chosen as a contestant of the Reaper’s Game. Neku is partnered with a young girl, Shiki, and they have one week to survive all the trials and tribulations the Reaper throws their way.

Most of the game centers on the combat and this is where the Nintendo DS really excels. While in combat, both characters, although displayed on separate screens, fight one common enemy while sharing the same health gauge. You will have to learn to control both characters at the same time. This is as difficult as it is fun.
