One of the newest games to begin the 2008 gaming year is No More Heroes. It is made to be played on the Wii system using the Nunchuk and Wiimote. This game was designed and developed by Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacturing. Although the game is rated “M” for mature, at least one reviewer indicated that children under 18 probably should not play it. The game is also described as a melodrama with loads of blood, killing, foul language, and sexual innuendo.
The main character is Travis Touchdown, who lives in a hotel room in Santa Destroy. He collects pornography and his room is decorated with anime and wrestling posters. He travels around town on foot or on his motorcycle looking to make a name for himself. He wins a laser-katana that is battery powered. It is Travis' mission to become the number one assassin in town. A mysterious woman gives Travis assignments, but he has to do menial chores such as mowing the lawn to earn money to buy into each confrontation. Once he has made a kill, Travis must continue to take down the top 10 assassins before they get him. Killing takes place by beheading his targets or splitting them vertically.
Defensive moves and counterattacks are made by the player moving the remote. The controls work well depending on the player's efficiency and skill. Although reviewers described the blood as "fake-looking," there is plenty of it. There is a lot of profanity used in the game. This game is seriously over-the-top, a reason to know what games your child plays.
