Pum Pum Patapon!

Those of you who love to create beats without receiving complaints about "making too much noise" might really appreciate Pyramid's (and Japan Studios') video game Patapon. The game was released in Japan on December 20, 2007 and went on to be released in late February 2008 in North America, Europe and Australia.

Patapon tells the story of the proud Patapon people who were invaded by the ruthless Zigoton tribe. It is now up to God to restore the land to the prosperous place it was before the invasion. You, the player will actually play the part of the god and lead the people to victory by way of the sacred drums which command the army.

The object of the game is to create specific rhythmic combinations on four different talking drums, which relate to a specific technique the soldiers will use to win battles or missions. These combinations serve to instruct the soldiers to attack, retreat, or defend.

Originally your army will only be made up of a few spear men but the infantry, ranged troops, and cavalry will quickly be obtained by winning the challenges along the way. Winning essentially depends on keeping the rhythm continuous without mistakenly missing a beat. Successful completion of these missions is crucial to obtaining Patapon currency, "ka-ching!" in order to buy weapons to strengthen the soldiers.

It's important to maintain a strong army in order to defend the evil monsters sent by the Zigoton Empire such as dragons, giant worms, golems, and worst of all, Gorl. In addition to staying alive and defeating Zigoton, the Patapon are on the quest to find "IT," an object sacred to the tribe which no one has ever seen. Check out Patapon and you too could discover "it".
