Many people fell in love when Nintendo released the Wii. Wii is one of the five game consoles that Nintendo made, but this one came cordless. With the remote that detects movement, this console has given many something new to play with. Along with Wii comes many new and improved exciting games, one of which is the popular game Okami.
Okami is an action packed role-playing game that was originally released for Sony PlayStation 2 in 2006. It didn’t do very well with that release, but was given a second chance in 2008. In 2008 it was released for the Wii all across North America. Okami is a story that is set back in an unknown time in Japanese history. This Japanese game actually means, “great god,” which also means “wolf.” It is a mythical Japanese story of an evil serpent that was killed by a warrior and a white wolf. It tells the story of how the land was saved from darkness by a sun goddess that took the form of a wolf. The wolf is killed during the battle and is entombed under her statue for years. Later in the story, the wolf is then resurrected to fight evil on the land once more.
Okami features many cell shaded visual styles and effects. With Okami now played with the Wii, this allows gamers to easily use their brush strokes to slash through demons, create winds and bombs and other magical spells. Okami has had mixed reviews from gamers and critics alike, but does seem to be doing better than when it was originally released for PlayStation 2.
