Sins of a Solar Empire is a real-time strategy game for the PC, and is only compatible with Windows XP and Vista. Sins is a strategy war game that is based in outer space, and allows usage of asteroids and planets. There are three factions that are at war in the game. These are called the TEC, the Advent, and the Vasari. The TEC are traders of older times that have had to convert their trade ships to battleships. They are being attacked by both the Advent and the Vasari. The Advent are the TEC’s oldest enemies, but not the most powerful. The Vasari are the technological superior of the three. However, the other two factions seem to be able to hold their own against the Vasari, especially since the game has the ability to upgrade ships and firepower.

Just like in any war game the basic goal of this game is to seek out and conquer. The player has to seek out new territory and claim it as their own while defending the territory that is already theirs. A good thing to know is when to fight and when to be diplomatic, as this can save a lot of lives if your military is down and out.

The currency used in this game is called the credit, which a player can collect in several ways. For example, they could complete missions, tax planets, or collect different bounties. Other resources are used to collect credits, or to improve the gameplay. Metal and crystal, which both can be found on asteroids, can be used to collect credits. A player can use ‘supply points’ for building ships, and can also be used as population control on ships. Ships are an important part of the game, and are necessary for success. Ships and Space stations are the only modes of transportation and battle within the game.
