Crisis Core Overview

The newest installment in the Final Fantasy franchise is the recently released Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The game is set 7 years before the first Final Fantasy VII. Its central character is SOLDIER 2nd Class Zack Fair, a young SOLDIER whose dream is to one day become a 1st Class SOLDIER like his mentor and friend, Angeal Hewley. Some returning characters in this game include Aerith Gainsborough, Cloud Strife, Genesis, and the infamous 1st Class hero Sephiroth.

The basic run-down of the games story is that during an operation in Wutai, a group of SOLDIER members under the command of 1st Class operative Genesis, go Missing-In-Action. The Shinra executives are then prompted to deploy another group of SOLDIER operatives, hoping to finally bring an end to the war with Wutai, as well as find the reason behind the disappearance of the other SOLDIER operatives. The group of SOLDIER operatives assigned to this mission consists of 2nd Class SOLDIER Zack Fair, 1st Class SOLDIER Angeal Hewley, and the legendary 1st Class Sephiroth.

Attacks can be physical or magical, using spells such as Fire or Cure. Crisis Core features a new battle system known as DMW (Digital Mind Wave.) This new battle system allows the player to use a limit break, a special attack, and a summon; as well as grant status effects and level up your materia along with Zack. Depending upon the materia that the player has equipped at the time, it will determine what magic and special commands will be displayed on the in-battle menu. Upon the players completion of the game, a new game option will then be made available.
