Patapon

Patapon is a game designed for the PlayStation PSP game system. Pyramid developed the game, and Japan Studios produced it. Rolito designed a cartoonish, silhouetted two dimensional environment. In the game, the player takes the role of a deity, which commands an army of small tribal creatures. The player is able to command them through rhythm patterns. The Patapon was an easygoing tribe until the evil Zigoton army ran them from their lands. This is where the player comes in; you must help them reclaim their lands. Underneath their cute exterior lies a fierce warrior spirit.

The player has to command his Patapon army in order to defeat bosses and complete missions in the game. You have to lead the Patapon army to victory, which is accomplished through utilizing the drumbeat for attacking, movement, defending, and special abilities. To progress, you must learn various "dances," which are the equivalent of magic spells. Each dance performs a different function; for example, the first one you learn makes it rain. As for the missions, there are thirty different levels to play. There are also over one hundred different types of weapons and items to find. There are also mini-games, which allow the player to gain new soldiers and items for their army.

Patapon is a fairly involving game, despite being released only on a portable system. Fortunately for those who have finished it, there is a sequel in the works. Players certainly have something to look forward to.
