A Real Professor's Life or a Challenging Game?

Professor Layton and his companion enter a mysterious village to find a "Golden Apple," but end up finding much more than apples. Puzzles by the dozen will need to be solved before the residents can help you with your search. This game is so well-developed that it will keep you on the edge of your seat for many hours. Have a full day to play? That is about as many hours as you will need to complete the game.

As you go through the curious village, you will run into the residents and, one by one, they will help you if you solve a puzzle for them. Puzzles come in a variety of mind-bending types, and while you can get hints if you want, chances are you'll want to solve the puzzles yourself. You will collect special clues as you solve the puzzles and this will all make the eventual end very satisfying. You may not gather all of the necessary clues on your first run through the game and may have to come back to gather more, but this just extends the enjoyment of the game.

While its music tracks can be less than stellar, its great voice acting and amusing art make up for it. The characters look as if they have been hand-drawn, which gives them a warm and realistic feeling. You may need to acquire a hoard of caffeine before beginning the game, because you won't want to put it down. All in all, the brain teasers will keep a puzzle junkie intrigued right up to the end.
