If you like smash 'em up, drive like crazy games for your PS3, then you probably have played one or more of the Burnout games that are available. The series put out by Electronic Art and Criterion Games, has been around for years, with its latest, Burnout Paradise, that came out in February of 2009.
Unlike previous Burnout games, the Paradise game (named after the town where all the action takes place) is open track. Previous games were closed track, which meant that you had to follow a predetermined race track/path to your destiny. In the Paradise game you can go anywhere you want as long as you get to your destination. This is a huge difference and one that is getting the game rave reviews. Like most race car driving games, you earn points and value as you complete different courses, and smash up other cars or objects such as billboards and other things on the side of the road. As you gain points, you are allowed to ride more difficult roads and races within the city of Paradise. The roadways are filled with traffic challenges, barriers and many other opportunities to crash up others or your own car if you are not careful. The speed of the game is very quick and simulates race driving very accurately. It is buckle-up, fast moving.
This Burnout game is rated between 8.8 to 9.0 out of 10 on different gaming sites. It is also age appropriate for over ten years of age.
