“Madden Football,” created by legendary John Madden over ten years ago, has been a perennial bestselling video game since it first game out. In fact, there are televised Madden tournaments on almost every day. It is a football simulation game that allows the player to hold many different football roles.
In the 2009 series, the announcers have been changed to include Chris Collinsworth. A new picture-in-picture option was added so that you can look up statistics and player information while you are involved in the game instead of stopping play. They added a five-on-five video arcade type gaming mode which reduces the size of the field and allows you to do only the simpler football functions. For the more sophisticated gamer, you can play the 11-on-11 functionality, which includes hundreds of strategies and a much greater level of complexity. As general manager of your team, you get to conduct the business side of the game, which includes the trades and signings as well as the releases. For the novice gamer, the system has a memory that remembers how well you played the last time you played and it matches your skill sets with the appropriate level of competition. This keeps the newer player from getting too frustrated. As the gamer gets better, the system brings a higher level of play to the table.
This game is considered by many reviewers to being as close to on a field as you can get. The response to it has been overly positive as it always is and the game is averaging a 9 out of 10 score on many sites.
