Madden 2009 is a video game based on the NFL. It was released by EA Sports and developed by EA Tiburon. Madden 2009 is the 20th installment in the Madden NFL Series. It was released for the Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, and Nintendo DS. The game is rated for everyone.

More than 85 new features and enhancements were added to the game. The Beyond Broadcast Presentation, an all-new television-style system, features Tom Hammon and Chris Collinsworth calling the plays for the PS2, PSP, Xbox, and Wii. Al Michaels and John Madden still commentate for the other versions. The new Options OnDemand Picture-in-Picture playcall window gives the gamer access to a number of stats, tips, and in-game options without pausing the game. An enhanced graphics engine and new player models make the linemen bulkier and the receivers more slim and sleek. The Total Control Animation System brings new features to the game such as missed field-goal returns, break-out tackles, realistic fatigue, user controlled celebrations, and more. The Adaptive Difficulty Engine is great for new players. It assesses proficiency in the core skills of football, then designs the game accordingly. The EA Sports BackTrack also aides the newbie by allowing him to replay features of the gameplay, letting the gamer learn from his mistakes. The player can then run the play again, using the EA Sports Rewind. Perhaps the biggest and most anticipated addition to Madden 2009 is the Online 2.0. It includes drafts, trades, and statistical tracking for online leagues. An all-new flex schedule allows up to 32 different teams to play.

Madden 2009 received high ratings ranging from 8/10 to 9/10. As of September of 2008, 4.5 million copies had been sold.
