If you are planning a weekend getaway but just cant decide where to go, then why not visit St. Mystere via the Nintendo DS game Professor Layton and the Curious Village? It is a quaint little village with some really odd town folk. They like talking to each other in riddles. They also each have a small problem you, as Professor Layton, may be able to help them with.
In the game's main story, a wealthy baron named Augustus Reinhold recently passed away. He left a treasure buried somewhere in the village and the folks here are trying to find it. Professor Layton and the Curious Village is a mind-bending adventure with puzzles, mazes, and brainteasers. You get to play Professor Layton, and with the help of your assistant Luke, you set out to find the treasure. Problems ensue though as soon as you arrive. It seems that another member of the ill-fated Reinhold family has died under somewhat suspicious circumstances.
The townsfolk are very friendly and helpful, provided you are willing to help them with a multitude of riddles and brainteasers first. Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an exercise in thinking. It is not just about math. You will be thinking outside the box during this game. Many classic riddles and some new ones promise to keep you guessing throughout. Just as you think you have it figured out, something new pops up just around the corner. With over 130 different puzzles to solve, your brain will be kept busy for hours.
The game brings together many aspects of other games. There is puzzle solving and very nice 2D picture screens for question and answer sessions. This is a game that will be enjoyed by young and old alike.
